Case Study: British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) – Engineering the NGTC Platform

RML Group

We played a pivotal role in the development and supply of key components for the Next Generation Touring Car (NGTC) regulations in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC). As the official supplier of NGTC chassis, suspension, and steering components, we have significantly influenced the modern BTCC grid, ensuring competitive parity, performance, and durability across the championship. The introduction of NGTC regulations aimed to reduce costs and increase accessibility for teams, standardize key components while maintaining manufacturer identity and performance variation, improve vehicle safety, durability, and raceability in a high-contact environment, and ensure a sustainable technical platform for the future of BTCC. To achieve these objectives, the championship required a trusted engineering partner to design and supply the core chassis, steering, and suspension components used across multiple teams and manufacturers, and RML delivered precisely that.

Chassis and Suspension Engineering

  • Designed and supplied the NGTC control subframe and suspension system, ensuring a balance of strength, weight reduction, and adjustability.

  • Developed front and rear suspension components, including double wishbone layouts optimised for handling and performance.

Steering and Control Systems
