RML Short Wheelbase enjoys the California sun

Car Zero, our pre-prod prototype RML Short Wheelbase, is currently somewhere over the Atlantic heading back to our HQ after an exciting and busy time at Monterey Car Week.

This has been the first time that the SWB has visited one of its key markets, and the reception was everything that we’d hoped for. Our CEO, Michael Mallock, met with prospective customers for the car, as well as those who’d ordered a SWB but had never seen it in the metal (actually, carbonfibre!).

“Monterey was a prime location for the Short Wheelbase,” said Michael. “Not only did it fit in perfectly, but we were taken aback by how many people knew about the car, helped I’m sure by its recent win in Robb Report’s Best of the Best awards.

“But for me, after months of pounding the car around bleak and unforgiving UK proving grounds, driving it on Californian coast roads put the Short Wheelbase into the right context. It was everything that I’d hoped it would be when the car was conceived three years, and many thousands of development hours ago: a beautifully engineered, fast, comfortable V12 GT with an evocative design that stands out, even among the most exotic modern hypercars.”

Michael wasn’t the only one to enjoy the car in Monterey, either: look out for an upcoming story about driving the SWB in California by a certain well-known car publication…

But if you missed the SWB in Monterey, make sure you track it down at next month’s Concours of Elegance, to be held at Hampton Court Palace on 2-4 September.

RML Short Wheelbase production is now underway, with deliveries of the first cars starting very soon.
